I have seen Maha Kali as the hideous skull bearer in a mirrored reflection of myself. A young, unbalanced , unwise self. She has taught many painful lessons of the ego and why it needs to be severed from spirit. I am ever grateful for here symbolic knowlege.
Years ago I found another image of her as my inner self blossomed and grew. A blue and purple firery energy that is a peaceful companion. When I dance she is easily invoked. We move together as one. This dance can last for 12 hours. I always have a 'ground' to give food and water when it's time to come down from trance.
I am honored to learn how to let go of attatchments and trust that the universe will always provide.

Every day I thank my mother for gifting me with the name Kali and my whole life as been an experience with Kali Ma. But only know as my eyes and soul been able to see it. Now I open my heart to her every day. I don't think I would be here with out her love and light. Just the other day she sent me a massege about my love and how to show it to the one that is my love. She is my mother and my guiding light.

When I worship Maa Kali, she takes away my Karmas by making me live them out. I realized that by her turning my Karmas into a funeral pyre and laughing and dancing on them that she is blessing me by removing my Karmic loads. If you want to remove Karma and see reality she will give you a hefty dose... If you want material gain, prosperity and happiness then better to worship another Goddess, like Lakshmi. Mother Kali is the embodiment of tough motherly love. I hate to see what she has become in America with all these "neo-tantra", Wiccan, and New Agers adopting her into their beliefs and pseudo-culture and making her into something she is not. Not that there's anything wrong with those beliefs, but they tend to think you can just pray to any deity that presides over a certain thing and get it without being a devotee. You cannot get anything from any aspect of God without one-pointed devotion. Worshipping 100 different Gods will only cause chaos. When you become a devotee of Maa, or any other deity you make a relationship with them so they take care of you. Gods, and especially Kali, does not just grant wishes and prayers because someone lights some candles and incense from the new age shop. You have to give as much as you want in return. I also hear many people say that their life gets bad when they worship Kali, well if you worship the devourer of karmas, time and life, you will get a healthy dose of reality that all things die, and you must suffer to succeed. If you want to worship Mother Kali, and you want to be a realized person, then you have to be ready to give her everything, your house, your home, your family, your friends, your lover, and even your own head if she asks, because she will take them anyway. It is better to surrender to her in full love and devotion and ask for her to have some compassion and treat you as a child. Just like Shiva crying out as she destroyed the Universe (symbolic of life), you must cry like a baby for your mother to get her attention. But if you want Kali as your mother, be ready to live in the cremation ground with your mother and be ready for the company of jackals, ghosts, and demons. Wander from her lap... And you are finished! Kali Maa is only for the very hearty, with the exception of Dakshina Kali (which is one of the only forms of her which can be worshiped in the home).
